HJWT is a HOLISTIC multi-service program that works with women from the initial interview and Relief From Abuse order through self-sufficiency and independence. We provide consultations for victims in rural areas who are referred by VICTIM ADVOCACY GROUPS, HOTLINES, the courts, LAW ENFORCEMENT, DOCTORS, nurses, teachers, and by those who contact us directly. Unlike most attorneys who expect clients to come to in-town offices, HJWT attorneys sit in a woman’s kitchen, or at other locations, where it is safe and where the woman is at ease. They talk with her as a peer, so she is not intimidated by talking with someone who does not understand family violence or the culture in which she lives. This approach enables the HJWT attorneys to obtain the information needed to present the client’s legal issues and also helps alleviate the fear the victim has of facing her abuser in the courtroom. During these consultations, the HJWT attorneys address safety planning, family and individual needs, the legal process, and they provide appropriate resource referral. From her own childhood, and from her leadership skills, Wynona realizes that this holistic multi-service approach of assisting rural victims often is the key to women first escaping the abuse and then moving forward to improving the quality of their lives and their children’s lives. The best measure of the success of the HJWT model is that few (5-10%) of the women served have returned to their abusers or entered other abusive relationships. Since 1998, almost 10,000 women and children have received an entire spectrum of services from HJWT.
One of Wynona’s favorite comments is, “Once women leave their abusers they grow and blossom.” Some clients have gone on to higher education and new careers. Some women have started their own businesses ranging from making and selling quilts to starting a massage therapy service. Other mothers have purchased new homes. Most importantly, all have wanted to reach out and help others.

The so-called "War on Women" is raging, and billions of your tax dollars are being misused to fuel it via the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The solution is to remove the middle class from the welfare roles and do away with gender-based funding incentives. The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1 […]

WERE TAX DOLLARS USED TO “FLIP” CUSTODY IN YOUR CHILD’S CASE?
From:
The National Alliance for Family Court Justice
The truth about most "troubled" custody cases is that many decisions are made long before the trials ever get started - and sometimes by individuals other than the judge who eventually "hears" the case.
In these kinds of cases, there is little you could have said or done to change this - as many have sensed…
We now know techniques to discover and retroactively attack this illegal collusion which is the real cause of the unfavorable and "biased" court decisions against mothers who try to protect themselves and their children from abusive fathers.
The only way to help your children and yourself is to focus on those involved in your case, with whom they associate and what they have done... and to learn a different style in dealing with these individuals.
DO NOT introduce your story with, "This is what happened to my child and me...". Explaining a series of traumatic events doesn't identify the category of these kinds of cases which involve official collusion.
A long recitation of incidents that are related - but not necessarily in order - is usually how traumatised mothers explain all of the threats, abuse and damage done when trying desperately to protect their children and themselves. This can be very confusing to those who are not involved in the case and often sounds unbelievable to those who are still unaware of the family court crisis.
Remove yourself from your emotions as much as possible and present the facts of the case as if you were someone else explaining a chronological outline of what you have reviewed from a case file.
There are hidden reasons why fathers retaliate with custody litigation when mothers file child abuse or support arrears complaints. There are also hidden reasons why CPS will not investigate child abuse reports - using excuses involving terms such as: "it's a custody battle", "a case with ongoing litigation", "a case of he said / she said" or "a case of parental alienation".
In these types of cases, the "system" deliberately mishandles cases: fathers are coached in retaliatory litigation and "crazy" making so those who are paid for their services can maintain control of lucrative litigation.
In these kinds of cases, those involved in the charade view you as exploitable prey. Posturing yourself as a "helpless" victim only provokes their malicious instincts and makes them feel very successful...and eager to conduct more malicious litigation against you.
This is the reason there are few court professionals who can actually handle these type of cases honestly and effectively. We know of no pro-bono experts who work on these cases. Very few are successful with these cases and those who are successful charge more than most can afford.
Also, some custody/child abuse litigation "experts" who specialize in fighting PAS for protective mothers have a history of acting like swindlers and not professional attorneys. They demand huge retainer fees only to totally ignore their new client after the retainer fee check has cleared their bank. Some of these attorney have had bar complaints filed against them by victimized mothers.
We know of no established women's or child abuse advocacy organization which effectively assists victims in these cases. As many have discovered, the main result from seeking a pro-bono expert is a lot of time lost and an expensive phone bill.
After many years of research, we have found an alternative way to handle these kinds of cases which has proven to be quite effective: Learn to understand the hidden traps in the system. Learn how to document the professional misconduct. Learn to defend yourself from those who are exploiting you and your children for profit.
